Face-lit letters
Translucent-face letters that transmit light forward. Highest daytime legibility. The standard for commercial and retail.
Face-lit is the right choice when legibility is the primary spec. The translucent acrylic face distributes the LED output evenly across the letter surface, producing a uniformly lit letter visible from hundreds of feet away in any lighting condition.
The tradeoff against halo-lit: face-lit letters read as “a sign” in a way halo-lit letters don’t. If the architecture wants restraint, halo is quieter. If the business needs to be found from the road, face-lit wins every time.
Construction
Face is typically 3-5mm high-transmission acrylic, either solid white with a vinyl colour overlay, or pigmented for direct colour (white is most common because it produces the cleanest illumination). Returns are 1.5mm aluminum, powder-coated to match or contrast the face.
Mounting is via a raceway (for retail standardization and electrical consolidation) or direct-mount with concealed studs (for a cleaner custom look on single-location installations).
